Dr Bike visits The Lillies

We had a visit from Action 21’s Dr Bike at our March meeting last week, who showed us some basic bike maintenance techniques. We had a demonstration of how to remove a tyre, fix a puncture and replace an inner tube, and how to put a bike chain back on. Dr Bike then carried out mini-MOTs for several ladies who had brought their bikes along for him to take a look at.

Action 21 recycles bikes that would otherwise go to landfill, providing training and work placements. The recycled bikes are sold from their Re-Useful Centre, at 5 Ramsey Road in Sydenham. The money generated helps fund the charity’s other work. Action 21 is currently looking for volunteers; see their web site for more details.
