Bottoms up!

For our November meeting The Lillies headed to Majestic Wine at the bottom of town, for an evening of wine tasting. We were greeted with a glass of crisp, bubbly Prosecco (La Marca Treviso Extra Dry) – not a bad start!

Our hosts then insisted that we try some champagne (Lanson Black Label) as a comparison before moving us on to tasting two delicious white wines (Petit Chablis 2012, Seguinot-Bordet and Pouilly-Fume 2010, Jean Vincent).

Having learned a thing or two about fizz and white wine we then tried a couple of red wines (Chateau Fourcas-Dupre 2004, Listrac Medoc and The Ned Pinot Noir, Southern Valleys, Marloborough), which were equally tasty. We were guided through the different scents and tastes we should be experiencing with each wine, and even had appropriate food, including tomato, goats cheese, cheddar cheese and smoked salmon, to accompany the wines. As you can see from the photo, we had a lovely time!

Majestic Wine run regular free wine tastings, with their next ‘Spot Light tasting’ taking place on Saturday 7th December, at 12noon and 3pm. Click here for details.
