Fabulous baking for our Bake Off!

Our inaugural Bake Off last Thursday was a great success, with ladies from The Lillies WI and guests from other local WIs entering some fabulous cakes, biscuits, scones and bread. We had a lovely time judging the entries, which involved tasting everything! Tea was of course provided to accompany the delicious baking.

The ‘Cakes’ class was won by Naresh Devshi, our youngest and only male competitor, who made a gorgeous Red Velvet cake. The prize in the ‘Biscuits’ class went to Margherita Dove, of Radford Semele WI, for her lovely shortbread biscuits. Our President, Rebecca Knight, won the ‘Bread’ class for a beautiful seeded, plaited loaf, while the ‘Decoration’ class was won by one of our guests, Roslyn Sharpe, for her amazing cake in the shape of a teapot and saucer (see the photo above). The ‘Savoury’ class was won by Rachel Tomson, of Ladbroke and Deppers Bridge WI, who was also crowned our ‘Star Baker’, and received a voucher for a delicious Tea for Two at Vinteas Vintage Tearoom in Leamington Spa.
